There. Are you happy now, Puss?

A complete fucking shambles all around

I've been working my way through Peter H. Wilson's 851 page history of the Thirty Year's War, Europe's Tragedy.

Although I'm only up to page 255 and the war hasn't even started yet, I think I'm confident in saying that it probably won't end well.

The other lesson we can all take away is; religious nutcases + heavy weaponry + great power rivalry = start panicking now.

It also involved something called "the Diet of Worms".

For reals.*

*Oh, stop snickering down the back.

Glad to hear it.

And, as an added bonus, everytime your boss walks past your desk they'll think "Oh, Puss is reading a work about the Thirty Years War. I must consider her to head up our Paris bureau."

I've finally got to the Defenestration of Prague.

Only 574 pages to go!

Bahahahaa! I wish we had a Sydney or Melbourne bureau, let alone a Paris one!

Actually, I wish our Brisbane bureau had more than 3 employees, for that matter.

Meanwhile I'm reading Tony Oakshott's autobiography entitled Why I'm a Stupid Cunt.

OMAC is back. Not sure how many of you guys remember me from TSSH days but at long last remembered my password for this. Good times.

The Crabb book will be great.

Speaking of which, anyone read Janet A's bullshit piece in the Oz defending its ultra right wing stance on everything?

Apalling.

Sorry.

I remember you OMAC. Where you been? What you been doing? More importantly, what did you think of the election (in 50 words or less)?

EMS. Still teaching?

Still working in the journalism industry. Fun times.

As for the election, it was truely an odd one. Didn't see Rudd's depature coming, Abbott is still a cock and this week will be interesting.

Just reading the new Mungo novel. Love it. He's name-dropped Shannahan twice in the first 10 pages.

EMS. Still teaching?

Yeah, trying to. When I'm not spending hours at a time on the Tube, or hacking my guts up.

Fuck this fucking city.

CAN I COME HOME YET?!

Oh, EMS, you poor thing. You've still got another year or so to go, haven't you?

Good for you EMS.

Hope it is all going well.

What's the news on all the other old TSSH people?

Oui, oui. I'm at this school - apparently rated outstanding by Ofsted (those fuckers must be huffing some serious shit) until December. To be honest, they aren't as bad as some of the schools in London I've been in, but fuck me these kids can be right cunts when they want to be. I'm currently waging a war against them (and today I feel like I might just be winning, but let's wait and see).

I'm basically trying to crush the little maggots like the little maggots they are. Sounds harsh, but they deserve it, trust me. What's more, they like it and it's good for them.

I think.

I dunno. I'm trying anyway.

After December, they advertise my job and I have to decide whether I want to apply again or not. I probably will because it's too fucking hard to go through starting all over again at another school and the staff are good (they like a drink, they swear, they smoke - they're a lot of fun), so I'll probably have a stab at it.

If I keep my job, I'll have one week's holiday in a fortnight's time, 2 weeks holiday over Xmas and will finish in time for summer in June/July next year. After that? No idea. Probably not London. Maybe Canterbury. I stayed there when I first arrived & really liked it.

So there you go - I'm sure you all are riveted by this - think of me as you go about your daily lives back home & pray you never have to spend 5 hours a day with smelly, East London teenage boys.
