Well yes, but it is winter.

Brrrr, bit chilly!

Well, it’s been hailing and snowing in some suburbs, we haven’t see the sun for some time and the temperature is struggling to reach double figures* and quite frankly I’m sick of those idiots whose soul conversation consists of “oh, isn’t it cold, I’m so cold, aren’t you cold, gosh it’s cold”.

Well, it’s freckin’ winter. It comes around every freckin’ year.

Honestly, it’s as though we’re turning into a bunch of nimby-pimby, namby-pamby Sydneyites**.

Winter in Melbourne is the perfect time for hearty soups, hearty steaks and hearty stouts, open fires in pubs, wearing black all the time and sneering***.

Suck it up.

*Rather like the Australian cricket team.

** Also rather like the Australian cricket team.

***Oh, wait. We do that all the time.

I do that but winter comes as a dreadful shock over here. All three days of it

whose soul conversation

A deliberate or serendipitous pun?

I sneer all the time and wear black in summer. But it IS cold, it just hit too quickly we didn't seem to get enough autumn.

I'm one of those fucking idiots aren't I?

It's bloody ridiculous. It hasn't even been that cold and I'm freezing. My teeth should not be chattering at 18°C. I thought I was
sick to start with, but no. The only explanation I can get is that it might have to do with weight loss. Well, if this is what skinny
people go through, then fuck it, I'm either going back to being a lard-arse, or moving back to WA.

It doesn't last long enough, I rather enjoy it. I have all my favorite Winter recipes to work through - the kind of things you only want to eat when it's really cold and at no other time - and I only get just enough time to make everything once and it's back to endless salads again.

At least we keep our hipsters under house-arrest.

Nyer.
