I was going to post another cricket PSF, but I was worried Squib would get cross*.

O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
Instead, here's a solid, rolled gold classic.

Rather like Peter Siddle's hat-trick yesterday!

But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief,
That thou, her maid, art far more fair than she.
Be not her maid, since she is envious;
Her vestal livery is but sick and green
And none but fools do wear it; cast it off.
It is my lady, O, it is my love!
O, that she knew she were!
She speaks yet she says nothing; what of that?
Her eye discourses; I will answer it.
I am too bold, 'tis not to me she speaks.
Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,
Having some business, do entreat her eyes
To twinkle in their spheres till they return.
What if her eyes were there, they in her head?
The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars,
As daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven
Would through the airy region stream so bright
That birds would sing and think it were not night.
See, how she leans her cheek upon her hand!
O, that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek!

solid, rolled gold

Does that imply that it's good or bad or is it deliberately nonsensical?

I'm a bit frighten of Squib.

Wise man. I wouldn't fuck with Squib, either.

I'm more awestruck by than frightened of Squib; all that crafty goodness AND she can write poems about tardigrades in the dark with her hands tied behind her back.

It means it's like Peter Siddle's hat-trick, Alex.

Lewd Bob said...

Nobody takes a hat-trick like a Victorian (Flemmo, Warney, Merv and Sidds).

Alex said...

Thanks for clearing that up, Ramon.

Kettle, you'd do well to beware the ire of somebody with those sorts of abilities.

Ramon Insertnamehere said...

At least Punter appears to have had a fucking shave this time!

Kettle said...

Does shaving help cricketing skills, or is it more an aesthetic thing?

Ramon Insertnamehere said...

Well, given Ponting's now out for ten, I suspect it's more an aesthetic thing.

Romeo, seriously, why don't they make men like that anymore? Why are men so crap these days? I don't know

I'm really very scary which is why I sit on the best spot on the lounge and I have all the remote controls

Tell Mr Squib he can come here if he needs some Test cricket action.

squib said...

I'm very good to MrSquib. I let him watch the World Cup.I even bought him some headphones with an extra long cord

Melba said...

My husband has headphones with a very long cord, too, squib. I love those headphones with very long cords.

And Ramon. You are risking some people not even reading the poetry you post for PSF. It was just pure luck I saw that it was Shakespeare and not some fucking cricket poem. May I suggest marrying the accompanying pictures a little better?

Anyway, thanks for the beautiful Friday words.

Kettle said...

We have headphones with a very long cord too! Don't we all have clever households.

Alex said...

Am I the only one who went with headphones that have no cord at all?

Lewd Bob said...

Alex wins for her embracing of wireless technology.

Great start to the series.

I have just a few questions.

Who selects the selectors? And who selects them?

Was Merv dropped as a selector because he's;
a) Victorian;
b) a bowler;
c) a knob;
d) all of the above?

It was hard.

Was that because of all the melon and dog sex, Wari?

How is Witchy, by the way?

Melba said...

OH HAY

My daughter is studying R & J next year in English.

AND ANIMAL FARM.

wari lasi said...

Witchy is great. She loves us all dearly and is keen to flog us a dodgy bit of real estate on the Mornington Peninsula

And all animals are equal! We know how it gos from there .... Don't we Ramon?

wari lasi said...

gos? Goes even, and to you Melba ...

Melba said...

Are you writing another comment to finish your sentence, wari? I'm hanging here.

Alex said...

She loves us all dearly and is keen to flog us a dodgy bit of real estate on the Mornington Peninsula

Tell Witchy I love her too. Just not quite that much.

Alex said...

I wonder how poor old Ramon's doing at the moment?

wari lasi said...

Sorry Melba, I was just trying to show off by throwing you an Animal Farm quote.

I'm not very good at showing off.

Lewd Bob said...

I didn't realise Romeo was based on a real character. Further, he was a boy. Further, he was a ponce.

Kettle said...

Further, he was a boy. Further, he was a ponce.

A poncy poet boy? Awesome. Just my type.

Ramon, you've given me an idea for my pre-Christmas Christmas party: a pre-Christmas Christmas reading of R&J! Shiz, it'll be the party of the season.

"Hello, Verona Police? Hi, It's Juliet Capulet here. Look, I'm sorry to keep bothering you, but he's back. Yeah. Outside my fucking bedroom window! Yeah! Only this time he's wearing fucking tights and going on about like astronomy 'n shit. Serious! And on top of all that, the olds are giving me grief cos they reckon I'm encouraging him! As if! What do I have to do to get some action on this? Yeah, yeah I know, but if this keeps up, I'm gunna fucken top myself! You will? That would be great! Ten minutes? I'll try to keep him talking till you get here. Thanks, bye."

Leonardo DiCaprio is SO too real

(cept maybe in Inception)

wari lasi said...

Mr E. Ha ha. Did they have AVOs in the 16th century?

wari lasi said...

Romeo, Romeo. Why dost thou stalk me so? Montague, Williams, Moran, Trimbole. A rose by any other name would smell of GSR...

This post is brought you under instruction from the liquidators. Or Wari. Pick a dodgy bugger, any dodgy bugger.

Hello guys! Melba, thanks for pointing out the poem was Shakespeare, I did skip over it until I saw your comment. Then realised I'm badly out of touch with my inner R&J.

Love you too Alex, that's why the dodgy real estate is such a good deal!
