It's Saint Piran's Day! Huzzah!

For those not in the know, today is Saint Piran's Day - the national day of Cornwall.

The BBC site about Saint Piran notes

In Ireland he was said to have performed many miracles but the Kings of the country were not impressed.
Not impressed?

How can you not be impressed by a Saint?

Performing "many miracles"?

Tough audience.

Maybe they were really crap miracles. Like turning water into urine or giving the king syphilis.

Good point, Alex.

Hadn't thought of that.

That cabbage on a stick guy, is he the saint?

I think he's meant to be a "Green Man", Squib.

So who's the John Howard muppet looking thing?

Apparently it's meant to be a giant Cornish Pasty.

I did say it was a crap public holiday.

This is my problem with the madia in general. Intense focus on St. Piran's Day, while Iran's "National Tree Planting Day" barely rates a mention.

Well if the Iranians organised a crap public parade for "National Tree Planting Day" like the Cornish, the media would probably be more interested.
