Piss weak "I've broken my glasses" PSF

Take me out tonight
Where there’s music and there’s people
Who are young and alive

Driving in your car
I never, never want to go home
Because I haven’t got one anymore

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people
And I want to see light

Driving in your car
Oh, please don’t drop me home
Because it?s not my home, it’s their home
And I’m welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die

And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine

Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere
I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care

And in the darkened underpass
I thought, oh God, my chance has come at last
But then a strange fear gripped me and I just couldn’t ask

Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere
I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care

Driving in your car
I never, never want to go home
Because I haven’t got one
I haven’t got one
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die

And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us, so what
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine

Oh, there is a light, never goes out
There is a light, never goes out
There is a light, never goes out
There is a light, never goes out
There is a light, never goes out
There is a light, never goes out
There is a light, never goes out

Ah, one of MrSquib's favourites. Shame about this

Squib is it one of MrSquib's favourites because it's car-related? I know you guys like to spend your evenings Googling Subarus and such.

squib said...

Huh? No, he might google cars but not me, no siree. He's a big Smiths fan (as in music, not crisps, Kettle)

I was just kidding, Squib. I remember you writing ages ago how much you enjoyed looking up car details on the net (as in not at all) when you were last looking to buy a car.

And am I such an obvious cornball? It's like you knew I'd go the crisps response.

I'm sitting here with a glass of wine and squib, your last two words made me realise what's missing in my life right at this moment.

"... crisps, Kettle."

They are my preferred chip. Just the plain salt ones.

Hate the flavoured chip.

And Ramon. Have you sorted out your specs sitch yet? I just got two new pairs from elcheaposavers. One a nice, newsreadery black frame (like everyone in Melbourne wears, they are so overdone and common) and my second, fun Edna Everage pair. They are pink plastic with diamantes.

DIAMENTES!

No Melbs, I'm dealing with it by squinting my way through the day.

It's giving me a tremendous headache and making me hate people.

More so.

Melba, you just reminded me of one of my pet hates about my mother. She insists on referring to diamontes as diah-mon-dees. So infuriating.

From the article Squib linked to: Travel to England and you have no idea where you are.

Is he bloody serious? Travel to England during the world cup and there's no mystery as to where you are.

Everyone else is going to the pub to celebrate the beginning of the World Cup, but me? No. I'm going to see Chicago instead.

The city or the band, EMS?

Ah Puss she's just trying to be funny? Go easy on mothers, they have feelings too. You young childless whippersnappers don't know what it's like to have a dual perspective on things.

But yeah, my mother drives me crazy as well.

Oh, Ramon. You do make me giggle.

The musical, silly. *Rolls eyes*

Ooh I love a good musical, EMS. Is Cats still running over there?

Do you know what, Kettle? I've got no idea. I've seen no advertising for it at all. Lots of other stuff, but no Cats. I even Googled it and all I could find were international shows. But it was only a cursory Google & I gave up pretty quickly, so I could be wrong.

Have you seen it? Did you like it?

I'd like to see Billy Elliot, and Oliver. I wouldn't mind checking out Jersey Boys as well. Have you seen any of those?

At the moment, the whole street has gone World Cup crazy. All morning people have been honking horns & blowing those trumpet thingys. It's driving me bonkers. Last night England played America, it was a draw (one goal each) - it was the quietest I've seen the place. I don't know what match is on at the moment, but people are going nuts in my neighbourhood. I'm told it's Australia vs Germany later on tonight.

It's only the second day & I've got World Cup fatigue already. Sigh.

EMS I'm afraid I've been referred to by my nearest and dearest (lovingly, I'm sure) as a 'crazy musical-loving nutbar idiot'. Noice.

I have indeed seen Cats, not just the original stage version (small child, formative experience, etc.) but also the big top version. I've also seen Les Mis (including a Queanbeyan Players version), Phantom of the Opera (less keen, not so into electronic organ music, surprisingly), Billy Elliot (free tix but lordy! What a show), ooh! And Gilbert and Sullivan! We used to play their greatest hits cassette in the car on family holidays.

And I mustn't forget the Sing-along-a-Sound-of-Music I went to in the late nineties, as well as Jerry Springer: the Opera just last year and the Grease Wrong Prom that's on in July (awes).

On reflection, with the cash I've spent on musicals over the years I could have capped an oil well.

I haven't seen Jersey Boys or Oliver but if you do see them and enjoy them, let me know immediately; it might warrant a flying trip to the UK.

Ramon Insertnamehere said...

Kettle, didn't you say Jerry Springer: the Opera was shit?

Kettle said...

I did, Ramon, and it was shit. Very shit. But I still paid money to see it and I didn't want to just list the quality musicals like Cats (all versions) that I've seen.

And yes, Ramon, Cats is quality. No-one can deny that, can they.

I'd pay to see the Jerry Springer musical.
