Saturday night.

By gum, that's better!

About 10:30 on Saturday night, I thought “fuck it, I can’t take this anymore” and drove home filled with, not rage but sorrow and regret and anger at the Labor Party smarties who managed to completely fuck-up not just one but two outstanding Labor leaders* and also with that weird flatulence you get from eating too many election day sausages.

When I got home, the house was dark and everybody was sleeping.

I went into The Boy’s bedroom and watched him in his pirate pyjamas; his little chest rising and falling rhythmically.

Then I went to bed and had a long lie in before getting up to a big breakfast of bacon, toast and eggs the next morning.

Everything looks better after a big breakfast of bacon, toast and eggs.

*Here’s 30 cents boys – see if you can find another social democratic government elsewhere to ruin.

More than anything, my relationship with the ALP is one of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". Under different circumstances, I think I'd find the idea of a HUNG parliament intriguing (yeah, even despite the jokes). But I didn't mind The Kruddster (most of the time), and the possibility of an Abbott-led-ex-Howard-coalition negotiating their way into the leadership of the country has me deeply disappointed. I can only imagine what it must be like for the Labor die-hards around here.

So, what happens now? Do we get a bunch of Labor people bashing each other across the news media? Will it change anything? Will some people have to go? Which ones? And will the party be better or worse for it in the end?

On a different note - we finally get rid of Family First but give the seat to the DLP? What the fuck, Australia?

What the fuck, Australia?

That pretty much sums up everything

Is a minority government actually a good thing? I'm not being rhetorical; just wondering if there are 'benefits'? Does a minority govt mean we want policy decisions 'checked'/'contributed to' by a broader range of...

Ah fuck, I don't know.

Can we form our own party? Anyone wanna contest the next election? Even at a state level; most pollies in NSW are mildly to moderately incompetent, I reckon we'd stand a good chance (also, it would give me a chance to live out my Jed Bartlet/Sam Seaborn grass roots political fantasies, *sigh*).

One can only hope that c*nt c*nts like Mark Arbib, Bill Shorten, Karl Bitar, etc get hung from a long rope for thier part in this, but it appears they are already spinning this as being due to the Qld and NSW state ALP being on the nose, Kevin Rudd would have lost more seats, etc, etc.

Apparently Bill Shorten's the bookie's favorite to take over the leadership if and when Julia Gillard fails which, given the difficult circumstances under which she's trying to lead the ALP, seems fairly likely.

And if Bill Shorten becomes ALP leader, I will not just be voting ALP second after the Greens, I will be voting ALP dead last, after every other asshole that graces the electoral landscape.

If it came to that Boogey, do you think you'd start to consider yourself an actual Greens supporter, or would it just be more about making a protest vote? I guess I'm wondering about the likelihood of the Greens becoming a major political force in this country, and the positives/negatives of such an outcome.

And Kettle, My understanding of economics is limited at best, I can't string a sentence together, and even a cursory look at my past would be scandalous. I might have to give this one a miss.

But on whether or not minority government could have advantages, I have to admit that a not-insubstantial part of me is curious to find out.

Bills OK.

I've had a tiny bit to do with him, and he's a decent bloke, if a little ruthless.

Its just amazing to think that after 11 years in opposition, Labor finaly clawed back power and now it looks as though they need to go back and reform the party again. What exactly were were these clowns doing between 1996 and 2007?

Minority Governments are the norm over here in Canada. The sky doesn't fall in. But everytime the Prime Minister makes a decision there is a collective whine "but we didn't vote for this guy".

Hung parliaments are the new black. Everyone who's anyone is doing it.

I left a hung State parliament behind in Tasmania, arrived to a hung parliament here in the UK and just voted in what resulted in a hung Federal Australian parliament.

What a fucking joke.

How much longer will this Political Evil Mastermind posing as a harmless Ozzie English Teacher be allowed to travel the world, leaving a trail of shattered Democracies in her wake before someone in authority takes action?

Where will she strike next?

Who is funding her?

What precisely is her relationship to Kevin Bacon?

It's time we demanded answers!

You're a bloody menace, EMS.

Did someone mention bacon?

Ah, so you have seen through my secret identity, Mr E. You will be dealt with in due course. Mwahahaaha.

Where will she strike next?

Tescos. Those bastards have had it too good for too long.

Who is funding her?

You are. You just don't know it yet.

What precisely is her relationship to Kevin Bacon?

Oh, there's the bacon. Kevin Bacon is awesome. Seriously, have you ever watched Footloose? It's awesome.

You're a bloody menace, EMS.

Aye, that's true Ramon. But come the revolution, you'll want to be on my side. (There'll be bacon and beer, but not Coopers, Coopers is yuck.)

Damn, I knew I was on to something, all those months ago! This has something to do with The Ranga Uprising, doesn't it?

We like The Ranga Uprising as a working title and will go with that, thanks Alex. You may well be spared.

And as thanks for that link to the awesome Kevin Bacon clip, I'll make sure you're on the right side of the uprising when it happens.
