Top Ten

Prahran Coles, Friday around 10.

My top 10 albums of the year are:

1. Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record
2. Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Before Today
3. Woods - At Echo Lake
4. Beach House - Teen Dream
5. The Walkmen - Lisbon
6. Black Mountain - Wilderness heart
7. Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
8. Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest
9. The Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt
10. Titus Andronicus - The Monitor

Honorable mentions go to Charlotte Gainsbourg, LCD Soundsystem, Local Natives and Of Montreal.

Biggest disappointments and/or the most boring records go to Interpol, The National, Spoon, New Pornographers, Grinderman, Band of Horses, Belle & Sebastian and Arcade Fire.

The following is Helicopter by Deerhunter. It's not the best song on the album but it is a terrific album. Lead singer, Bradford Cox, has Marfan Sydrome, which gives him an awkward, gangly appearance. Joey Ramone had it to.

Merry Christmas.

My dictionary says a number that is not a root of any algebraic equation having integral coefficients

Which is exactly what I thought when I first heard this song.

Good list, Bob.

I eagerly await our 'Bob's Best Bits of 2010' downloadable CD, assuming it's going to be a mix from said albums?

Belle & Sebastian was on your boring list; how come? I just bought tix to their Sydney show next March.

Compare your list, Bob, to this lot.

Gah, someone actually included a Kanye West track as a top five song for 2010.

Some reasonable lists there Kettle, and some pretty bloody awful ones. I particularly bristled at the comment someone made that a list is pretentious if you don't know anyone on it. The implication being that if it's not top 40, you only like it to be cool. Blah.

And re B&S. They're ok. I have most of their albums, like them a lot, but I guess I'm not seeing anything new on this latest one. Same with Interpol and The National. Although maybe I will revisit the song Bloodbuzz Ohio given its ubiquitousness on those lists.
