Sorry about that Niels.
It’s been a quiet week here at Spin Towers, so I’ve been looking over some old TSFKA posts.In the one about Christian Doppler*, I noticed that I promised a post about Niels Bohr – a promise I never delivered, for which I apologise.
So here goes.
Ahem.
Niels Henrik David Bohr (1885-1962) was a Danish physicist who made fundamental contributions to understanding atomic structure and quantum mechanics.
Hope that clears things up.
Also – can we please stop talking about the Commonwealth Games? The only reason why we care about the Commonwealth Games is that we can beat other sporting super-powers** in a contest nobody else in the world gives a flying fuck about.
Also also - there will be no PSF tomorrow as I will be on holidays.

Care to elaborate on the part about atomic bitsies and quantum bizzos for us, Ramon?
Niels' most important work revolved around the structure of atmoic and sub-atomic particles, Squib, and he was also important in developing the "uncertainty principle".
I'd talk more about the "uncertainty principle", but I'm not too certain where to begin.

I, along with a couple of my female friends, went out prowling the town a number of years back. We were at the time all doing PhDs in chemistry. Here we were in a pub, met a group of young men, got chatting. Eventually, asked them what they did... long pause, some awkward squirming "um, we are all doing PhDs in physics" Clearly, despite being aware of the conversation-killing properties of a science PhD, they had not had the foresight to come up with some convincing alternative occupations. We were at the time maskerading as librarians. From this I learnt an important lesson: Chemists are much better at picking up than Physicists.
Can I please use that story as a basis for a screenplay Tube?
Absolutely, so long as the chemists are all described as attractive.
