Possibly not an historically accurate representation.
Well comrades, it seems to be an unending cavalcade of horribleness this week; Japan, Libya, the cat next door.
I’ve been trying to make sense of it all but every time I’ve sat down to write something I just get too depressed and end up staring moodily out of the window, which doesn’t do anybody any good.
In the meantime, The Boy is very excited about the Saint Patrick Day celebrations at his primary school*.
Not many people know that Saint Patrick was probably originally from Wales but in what was a piece of very successful sixth century spin, the tourism authorities back then realised the Welsh do not have a reputation of roistering, good-natured drunks and thus the decision was made to focus on the Irish portion of his CV.
Hope you all have fun tomorrow.
*And no, the school won’t be serving green coloured beer.
It will, of course, be serving ordinary beer**.
** Possibly not true.

Well there be a coincidence.
Blog posts are like trains, Bob.
There's nothing for days and then two come along at the same time.
And they're often filled with drunken dickheads.
I'm drinking a lot of expensive Welsh water these days It comes from an iron rich spring in 25ml sachets and it tastes like a rusty nail
Squib, um, why?
A part of me always feels a wee bit sorry for the Irish folk, seeing their national identity reduced to such a pathetic caricature, and all. I know how disheartening it is to see drunken knobbers chanting "Oi. Oi. Oi." while draped in flags on Australia day. St Paddy's has to be twice as bad, at least.
low in iron
But high in irony.
Well comrades, it seems to be an unending cavalcade of horribleness this week; Japan, Libya, the cat next door.
Since you mentioned this, I've been wondering:
1) The "global community" does seem kind of crap at making decisions in a timely manner, doesn't it?
2) I've heard a few people complaining that the media is irresponsibly playing up the threat posed by Japan's failing nuclear reactors. Anyone have any strong feelings on nuclear power or the coverage they're seeing?
3) Am I the only one getting fed up with hearing the terms "rolling" (as in "rolling coverage of the rolling crises") and "moving feast"?
4) What happened to the cat next door?
Alex
1) China and Russia seem to be the main ones putting a spoke in the works in this regard.
2) Just about everybody living near that reactor is fucked.
3) Don't ask!
Now you really have to tell us what happened to the cat next door.
