First Lady Shock!

How is this news?

How can anybody care so much about what Michelle Obama (or anybody) is wearing that they feel compelled to comment on it in any way, let alone criticize it on such a ridiculous basis? Unless she's wearing a Nazi outfit, body paint or a bear suit, does it really matter? Isn't the USA a modern, western society which accepted many years ago that woman have not just legs, but arms? This is 2009.

Oh my God, she wore a sleeveless dress 4 times in 7 days! Outrageous! Apparently "these Big Speech Events are serious and important". She was deemed by some to be showing too much skin!* And, gasp, it was black!

Next she'll be doing a Keating when the Queen visits.

The right to bare arms is enshrined in the constitution!

N.R.A.......Ok!

More importantly, for those looking for fashion and political guidance, was there a tuft of 'euro-jex' on show or did she shave?

Is anybody else having trouble seeing the posts on TSFKA?

No, just me?

Odd.

Clever Mr E, clever.

Ramon, for me it's a bit haphazard. I had to reload a few times this morning to see everything. But I live in a filthy 3rd world backwater remember.

I hate the warning message about "unsecure items" before it loads the avatars. As opposed to "insecure items", that would be me.

So, that would be Sydney then.

Her arms are in good shape. I'd say she's a swimmer

I have no problems 'following' TSFKA this morning

I'm feeling a bit of deja vu. Have we been here before Ramon? I'm Sydney born and bred but I'll never live there again.

Incidenatally, is that doll from your very own Franklin Mint collection?

I'm loathe to comment about Mrs Obama. I steer very clear of anything that may even vaguely have a racial connotation.

I'm a petty, petty man, Wari.

I thought that was Perseus?

I'm hving trouble seing the box of followers at top left. I think it realised it was being linked to Pauline Hanson and shat itself.

That's MY doll and so what? Are you suggesting I should only play with trucks Wari? I'm very much in touch with my feminine side. I call her Maddy.

I'd like to hook up with Hanson. Immediate infamy plus free fish n chips.

Got me there Bob. And I thought she was an opportunistic bitch.

Say Hi to Maddy. Nice outfit, good to see those horrible arms covered up.

I don't think the yanks would care about that - the English monarchy doesn't rule over them. I'm surprised they even visit them.

I don't think anyone's allowed to touch the queen, British subject or not. Even Prince Phillip, the ridiculous sap.

I though you meant Michelle Obama was going to describe somebody as "a shiver looking for a spine to run up".

If I had arms that good I'd show them off too.

You can't please those fashion bitches.

In other news, is this the stupidest idea ever?

Let's get a supermodel to talk about body image!

Perhaps I wasn't clear Ramon. But now that I think about it, maybe the most appropriate thing for Michelle Obama to say to the queen would be "Get a job!"

I'm sure I've mentioned this before... but anyway, when I met Prince Charles and Princess Di (1984) I was told by his minders beforehand not to try to touch them - I was allowed to shake Charles' hand only if he offered it. Anyway, I forgot, and when he approached me I offered my hand. He shook it.

I was not shot by his minders.

I didn't touch Di though, and may I also reiterate my thoughts from back then: Charles was a charming and pleasant man, Di was a mute dumbo.

Uh huh, and how are they going to enforce that? Demand the US rejoin the Commonwealth just so they can have enough jurisdiction they currently lack?

Presumably, if the queen were a guest in their country, the US president might kindly agree not to touch her, out of courtesy only, unlike in Australia, where all Australian citizens are her subordinates and bound by law to obey her will.

As President "BH" Obama might say (if he had more muscle and heaps more bling), "I pity da fool who tries to tell my wife what queen she cannot touch!"

Ramon Insertnamehere said...

I wonder if this applies to the visiting monarchs of other countries.

If, for example, I gave Princess Mary a big smooch, what are the likely consequences?

Apart from earning Perseus' undying emnity.

Princess Mary is an Aussie-bred laddette. A welcome-back snog is practically obligatory.

Mind you, I'd be interested to hear how a Victorian state spin doctor might position himself to be first in line for such honours.

I have my methods, Boogey.

I would die with jealousy.

Did I tell you I taught a prac at Princess Mary's school and shared an office with one of her old teachers?

True story.

It was just when she met the prince and the Danish press were constantly calling trying to get stories about what she was like as a kid.
